The Somerton Music & Arts Festival will be back in Somerton this July, with an exciting line up of new events and festival staples taking place throughout the town.
The annual Arts Exhibition, which takes place at the Parish Rooms, showcases work from talented local artists across a range of creative disciplines. Running from 24th – 31st May, the exhibition is free to visit and many pieces are available to buy.
Many traditional festival events will be returning, including Martyn Smith’s famous history walk, the brain-teasing festival quiz, a talk on another fascinating topic of military history and the festival church service. The live music weekender returns too with music in Somerton’s pubs from the 3rd to 5th July. A feature of the weekender this year will be an open mic night at the Royal Oak.
New events have also been added to the schedule including a gin tasting with Stuart Avison at the Etsome Arms, where gin enthusiasts will be encouraged to sample gin as it was always meant to be taken, with dry ginger. The Somerton Dramatic Society will be making its festival debut with a comedy farce, and the Yeovil Concert Band will play traditional marches as well as selections from stage musicals, film scores and much more.
And we are bringing more music to our beautiful church in Somerton as part of the Music at St Michaels series of concerts.
