Nicole sings classic and contemporary bossa nova in Portuguese\, French and English. She takes you on a melodic and storytelling journey as she delights her audience with anecdotes from the 60s’ bossa nova movement throughout the gig. \nShe is accompanied by talented guitarist Richard Llewelyn whose fluid playing makes the whole performance a sheer joy and Ron Phelan at the double bass for warmth and rhythm. \nTickets are available direct from ACEarts either online or from their shop. \nTicket numbers are limited so please book early. However\, we have released some more tickets but these have a restricted view of the performance area – however they will be supported by TV screens. \nAcclaimed tribute band Fleetwood Bac is coming to Somerton this summer! If you are a fan of the original band you will not be disappointed.  Fleetwood Bac looks and sounds just like the real thing and plays all the hits with uncanny accuracy.  Critics describe them as “spot on” and “first rate”. \nThey are the world’s first and are regarded as the UK’s most authentic Fleetwood Mac tribute show\, endorsed by Mick Fleetwood himself\, raved about by Peter Green’s biographer\, and were the first Fleetwood Mac tribute band to fully replicate the classic Stevie\, Lindsey\, Christine\, John & Mick ‘Rumours’ line-up. \nDrinks will be available at the pay bar. \nSome of the seats in the church have a slightly restricted view. SUMMARY:Battle of the Bands
DESCRIPTION:There’s one remaining slot left for a band to play at Somerstock during the Friday night session. So we’re pitting three bands against each other in a Battle of the Bands to take place at the Parish Rooms on Friday 19th April. The winner\, chosen by the Somerstock judges and votes received on the night\, will open Somerstock 2024\, performing first up on the Friday evening (Friday 12th July) \nThe bands battling it out for the prime slot will be: \nVetna \nVetna are a car crash between different genres and eras\, in a comfy\, compact format for your own post-modern\, liquid entertainment. A music collective founded by Lorenzo Chia and based in Bristol since 2020. \nThis act proposes a bold experimentation\, beginning with alternative rock and post-rock\, with an unmistakable 90s and 00s imprint (Radiohead\, The Dandy Warhols\, The Smashing Pumpkins\, Verdena\, Godspeed You! Black Emperor\, La Femme\, just to name a few)\, and mixing it with a powerful electronic outfit (Four Tet\, Boards Of Canada\, Crystal Castles\, Nicolas Jaar). Everything spiced up with punk attitude and a hot psychedelic vibe. \nAbsolute Zero \nFormed in 2022 with a combined age of just 32\, Absolute Zero have been wowing audiences with their youthful energy and awesome ability beyond their years. In 2023 they recorded their first EP\, available here to download\, or buy on CD. Despite their size it is clear these guys are gonna be BIG – so check them out! ‘Cos nothing is as cool as Absolute Zero!’ \nJunebug \nJunebug is a 5 piece college formed band who play around the Glastonbury area in the spirit of home grown alternative rock. Inspired by bands like The Smashing Pumpkins\, Radiohead and other experimental groups. High energy rhythm section\, soaring fuzz tones as well as shimmering and chiming chordal breaks. \n  \n \nDoors open at 7pm and the first band will take the stage at 7.30. There will be a 20 minute interval between each band and a fully licenced bar will be available. \n  \nThis is going to be a very popular event so booking is essential. \nTicket price:  £5.00\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n  \n  \nSomerstock takes place at Somerton Rec on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th July.
