It’s a busy day in the relaxation spa\, with new girl Tina struggling to come to terms with her new job. It’s all complicated by a number of clients who’ve arranged liaisons\, or mistaken the premises for…. quite a different kind of establishment. \nAs secrets unravel and confusion mounts\, the result is a classic farce packed with sharp dialogue\, unexpected twists and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. \nThe society has long been a much-loved part of Somerton’s cultural life\, entertaining audiences with lively productions\, memorable characters\, and plenty of laughter along the way. \nA full bar will be available before the performance and during the interval. \n\nTickets prices:  £8 standard\, £10 premium. DESCRIPTION:The Somerton Arts Exhibition is the prelude to the annual Somerton Music & Arts Festival and is a regular and popular fixture of the local arts scene. The exhibition\, which provides the opportunity for local artists and creatives to showcase their talent\, is free to visit and will be open to the public daily from Saturday 23rd May to Saturday 30th May. \nIn addition to art and photography in many different formats\, there will also be sculpture on display with many local artists taking part. Come and enjoy a browse around the exhibits – many of which are available to purchase. \n  \n\n\n\n                   \nThe exhibition is split into four categories. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite three pieces across all categories\, and at the end of the exhibition\, a presentation will be made to the exhibitor with the most votes.

DESCRIPTION:Event sponsored by John Rickard & Wendy Smart\nJoin us in the Parish Rooms to find out more about the origins a local company we’re all very familiar with – the iconic Clark’s Shoes. \n  \n \n200 Years of Clarks\nJoin Dr. Tim Crumplin as he charts the origins of the Clark family\, their beginnings in Street during the 18th century and the commercial and social influences the Quaker business had upon the town from the time of its founding in 1825 to today. Alongside the family records and collections\, the archives contain over 100\,000 items charting over 200 years of shoemaking history. In 2004 Tim was employed as a post-doctoral researcher to compile a history of the company\, he took on management of the collection in 2009. Tim is Somerton born and bred and is delighted to be giving us this insight into of one of the most famous names in footwear. \n  \nNew Shoemakers Museum\nFind out about the new Shoemakers Museum which is due to open in Street in September 2025. Director Rosie Martin is leading the project to create an exciting new visitor attraction that will make the collections of the Alfred Gillett Trust available to the public for the first time. The museum will share stories of over 200 years of shoemaking history\, focusing on the legacy of Clarks\, the iconic footwear brand founded in the village of Street. \nAfter 12 years of planning\, consent for a new building was granted in December 2023 and the months since have been an exciting whirlwind of designers\, architects\, builders\, ecologists\, and a host of specialists working together to bring the museum to life! Martyn Smith\, the Somerton Music & Arts Festival treasurer\, will be your guide for a tour of historic Somerton. Martyn was born in the Midlands and a job-related move brought him to Somerton in 1990.\nHe says ‘Somerton is such a great place to live and I’m always proud to show people around our ancient hill-top town with its interesting buildings and beautiful church.’ \nThis gentle walk will take around one hour or so and will take in St Michael’s Church and some of the other old buildings in the historic centre of town. \nThe group size is limited to 20 so it is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment. The walk starts from the cobbled area outside Somerton Parish Rooms. \nAs this walk takes place through the town\, participants should wear appropriate footwear and be especially aware when crossing roads. \nTickets for the 2pm walk have now sold out so Martyn has kindly agreed to lead a second walk starting at 4pm.  \nTicket prices:  Standard £6\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n  \n  \nTickets are also be available from Stationery House in Somerton.

DESCRIPTION:Event sponsored by Matt Carson\nJoin us in the Parish Rooms for two fascinating talks by local historians taking us on a journey of discovery through some of the Second World War’s more interesting facets. \nThe Hunt For The Bismarck\nJosh Bassett\, Founder of Historigraph is back to tell us about one of the most dramatic and famous naval battles of WW2. Lasting for nine long days\, these events saw dozens of warships involved and two devastating sinkings in what became the most costly naval battle in the entire European war. \n \nThe Sinking of the Tirpitz\nDave Morris\, the Principal Conservator of the National Museum of the Royal Navy returns with another fascinating insight into local military history. Royal Academy artist Stanley Lewis was based at Low Ham on the Searchlight Battery and was commissioned by the navy to build a 3D papier-mache model of Alta Fjord for the pilots to study and learn the terrain/approach. SUMMARY:Somerton Arts Exhibition 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Somerton Arts Exhibition is the prelude to the annual Somerton Music & Arts Festival and is a regular and popular fixture of the local arts scene. The exhibition\, which provides the opportunity for local artists and creatives to showcase their talent\, is free to visit and will be open to the public daily from Saturday 25th May to Saturday 1st June. \nThis year\, in addition to art and photography in many different formats\, there will also be sculpture on display with many local artists taking part. Come and enjoy a browse around the exhibits – many of which are available to purchase. \n  \n\n\n\n                   \nThe exhibition is split into four categories. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite three pieces across all categories\, and at the end of the exhibition\, a presentation will be made to the exhibitor with the most votes.
